Steel Pickling Acid Storage Tank Radar Level Measurement

When a Midwest steel company needed reliable level measurement of their hydrochloric acid storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. The firm cuts, forms and pickles carbon steel to order in a highly automated production line. During which, sheets are dipped into vats of HCI or pickle liquor, which removes rust, scale and oil from the metal surface. HCI is an extremely corrosive and vaporous acid, that’s difficult to store, handle and measure. Plant engineers needed a reliable level measurement solution for their new HCI storage tanks. For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact LR20 radar sensor with a PTFE antenna shield that’s unaffected by vaporous and corrosive media. The radar sensors provide reliable level data to the PLC, which monitors the tanks, pumps HCI to the vats and alarms for replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
