Corrosive Acid Storage Tank Radar Level Measurement

Corrosive Acid Storage Tank Radar Level Sensor

When an Oklahoma chemical distributor needed reliable level measurement of their hydrochloric acid storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. The company blends and supplies frac chemicals to drilling companies. HCI is highly corrosive, vaporous and notoriously harsh on sensors and fluid handling equipment. Maintenance said that non-contact ultrasonic level sensors were unreliable here due to vapor and Teflon coated guided wave sensors failed in 18 months due to corrosion. The plant manager tasked him to find a reliable, long lasting sensor for the tanks. Beyond that, he needed flange mounts. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our LR20 radar sensor with flange mounts and corrosion resistant FEP antenna shields. The non-contact radar sensors are unaffected by vapor, and provide reliable level data to the PLC, which monitors the tanks and controls the process. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
