Metal Finishing Coating Tank Radar Level Measurement

When a Mississippi metal finishing firm needed reliable level measurement of their conversion chemical bulk tank, they turned to Flowline. The company strips, coats and paints metal parts to their client’s specification. Conversion coatings provide the optimal bonding layer for paint and powder applications. Based on type and size, parts are either sprayed or dipped, and both applications are fed by a chemical storage tank. There the I&C engineer explained that they had reliability issues with pressure and ultrasonic level sensors due to the media. The pressure sensors would clog, and ultrasonic sensors became erratic when the media foamed or outgassed during and after tank fill. He requested reliable measurement with an on-board display to verify level sensor operability. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar sensors that are non-contact, unaffected by foam or vapor, with simple BLE to App connectivity to configure or verify sensors without ladder climbs. The radar sensor provides reliable level data to the PLC that monitors the tank, controls their process and alarms for chemical replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
