When a Gulf Coast contractor needed reliable level measurement of their municipal client’s ammonium sulfate tank, they turned to Flowline. The company maintains the measurement, automation and fluid handling equipment for a water plant, and they back their service with satisfaction guaranteed. The plant injects ammonium sulfate which serves to disinfect and buffer pH at various points in their process. The NH42S04 feed tank is refilled by a chemical distributor within 48 hours of request. There the operator complained that a previous ultrasonic level sensor performed erratically when the tank level neared empty or was filled into the dead band. Both created alarms and confusion. Upon arrival, the contractor verified the low-level bouncing which he attributed to vapor attenuation. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar sensors that are unaffected by vapor and reliably measure small tanks with no dead band. The radar sensors provides reliable level data to the level indicator and SCADA, which monitors the tank and alarms for chemical replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
