Sodium Hydroxide Bulk Tank Radar Level Measurement

When a Midwest food processor needed reliable level measurement of their caustic soda storage tank, they turned to Flowline. The company makes vegetable soups and sodium hydroxide is used to soak clean both the fruit and their equipment between shifts. Caustic soda is corrosive, foaming and coating to level instrumentation. The maintenance manager was dissatisfied with prior guided wave level sensors that succumbed to corrosion, and ultrasonic level sensors that lost signal due to foam, during and after each tank fill. He said, “I need something reliable in this nasty application.” For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact LR83 radar sensor that’s unaffected by foam, agitation or corrosion. Case closed. The radar sensor provides reliable level data to the PLC which monitors the tank and alarms for chemical replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
