Agriculture Water Canal Radar Level Measurement

When a California water authority needed reliable level measurement of their distribution canals, they turned to Flowline. Central Valley farmers receive aqueduct water from connected canals that zigzag the landscape. Balancing flow rates is an ongoing challenge that varies by season, farmer demand and weather events. The main canals neck down into culverts that pass under streets or highways. Some have manual or automated gates to control the network and minimize overflows that can occur at these choke points. There the IC&E engineer needed a reliable, non-contact level sensor with a digital output for use with their wireless SCADA. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our LR81 radar sensor with Modbus signal output that’s ideal for outdoor applications as its unaffected by environmental factors such as wind, rain or temperature. The radar sensor provides reliable level data to the SCADA which monitors the canals and alarms for flow rate adjustment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
