When an Ohio water treatment plant needed reliable level measurement of their lime slurry mix tank, they turned to Flowline. Slacked or hydrated lime is used by the plant for neutralization and stabilization. Lime slurry is notoriously messy with splashing material coating anything it contacts, including level sensors. The operators would make a batch and use a dipstick to manually check the level as feed pumps drew lime from the tank. But this led to lime shortages and occasional shutdowns. They needed reliable level measurement. For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact DL24 ultrasonic sensor inserted through a hole in the tank top with two feet of excess cable. This allowed the sensor to be easily lifted, wiped off and placed back into the tank. The ultrasonic sensor provides reliable level data to the SCADA, which monitors the tank and alarms for replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
