When China National Petroleum needed reliable level measurement of their oil field mud tanks, they turned to Flowline. Mud tanks collect and separate solid material such as sand from drilling fluid. The tanks fill quickly and are susceptible to clogging. Rig operators stand on top of them and use high power water hoses to blast material blockages, and level measurement is critical to alert them of problems before they become spills. CNP required intrinsically safe, non-contact level measurement due to the coating nature of the fluid, coupled with the presence of methane gas. For this reason, Flowline suggested our LU20 ultrasonic sensor that they installed over each tank compartment in a mobile stand. The ultrasonic sensors provide reliable level data to the SCADA, which monitors the tanks and controls the process. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
