Oil and Gas Dewatering Pond Radar Level Measurement

When a Texas water treatment firm needed reliable level measurement of their dewatering ponds, they turned to Flowline. Produced water is a by-product of oil & gas production that typically contains salts, minerals, chemicals and hydrocarbons. To remove the contaminants, the company sets up temporary holding ponds, where the water is pumped, treated and evaporated to minimize the residual clean up. Fully exposed to the environment, the ponds see everything from tropical storms to freezing rain or snow. After months of testing several level sensor types and brands, the I&C manager selected our LR80 80-GHz radar sensor for their projects due to its accuracy, maintenance-free reliability and ease of setup via BLE and our LevelTap App. The radar sensors provide reliable level data to the PLC, which monitors the ponds and controls the water treatment process.
