Dam Diesel Generator Tank Radar Level Measurement

When an Idaho municipality needed reliable level measurement of their reservoir diesel generator tank, they turned to Flowline. The high mountain dam receives the headwaters from six tributary creeks and diverts those run offs into a 40-mile tunnel that supplies local reservoirs. Via SCADA, the operators remotely monitor reservoir levels, control the spillway gates and view cameras. Grid power can be lost anytime due to weather or fire events, and their diesel generator stands ready to supply power and maintain dam control. The I&C technician said they had to replace an ultrasonic level sensor that became unstable when the temperature dropped below freezing, causing alarms and wasted trips to the reservoir.
