When a Midwest commercial laundry needed reliable level measurement of their surfactant tanks, they turned to Flowline. The plant picks up, washes and returns clean uniforms to hundreds of customers per day, and surfactants play a critical role in their wash process. Surfactants are binding agents that lift dirt and oil from fabrics and attach them to water for easy removal. But these same characteristics also make surfactants difficult to measure because they coat and clog contact level sensors. Further, surfactants also foam (see the flashlight view inside the tank) and thus attenuate ultrasonic level sensors. Finally the plant manager said, “We run 24/7 and can’t afford downtime installing sensors. What do you recommend?” For these reasons, Flowline suggested our LR80 radar sensor installed in our adhesive tank top fitting. Non-invasive measurement, easy installation, no downtime. The radar sensors provide reliable level data to the PLC which monitors the tanks and alarms for replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
