When a Southeast paper manufacturer needed reliable level measurement of their caustic soda day tanks, they turned to Flowline. Sodium hydroxide is used to extract lignin, an organic polymer found in plant material, that makes pulp too rigid for paper applications. NaOH is a highly corrosive and crystallizing media that’s harsh on sensors and fluid handling equipment alike. Eight day tanks receive, mix and dispense caustic soda throughout the plant. There the technician had ongoing problems with float level sensors that would stick due to coating, and often required cleaning. For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact UG01 ultrasonic sensor that measures coating type liquids and slurries. The ultrasonic sensors provide reliable level data to the PLC, which monitors the tanks and controls the process. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
